SCP’s Spring Premier Auction Highlights Rare Sports Memorabilia

SCP Auctions is gearing up to unveil a treasure trove of rare sports memorabilia in their upcoming Spring Premier catalog. One of the standout pieces is the only known George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers warm-up suit, a relic from the early days of the NBA. Autographed by the legendary basketball player himself, this ensemble includes both the jacket and pants, authenticated by Sports Investors Authentication. It is poised to attract bids exceeding an impressive $400,000, capturing the attention of avid collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Renowned for his pivotal role in shaping the landscape of basketball, George Mikan’s memorabilia holds a special place in the hearts of sports aficionados. In addition to the Mikan warm-up suit, the auction boasts an array of prime vintage baseball cards that are sure to ignite bidding wars. Highlights include a PSA 7 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookie card, a duo of 1952 Topps Mantles, a 1963 Topps Mantle in SGC 9 condition, and a rare 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig graded at SGC 9. Anticipated to surpass $150,000, the Gehrig card is a coveted piece among collectors seeking true gems of baseball history.

Pete Rose enthusiasts will delight in exploring the second-ranked master set of his cards, following SCP’s previous record-breaking sale of the top-ranked set last autumn. The auction also features an impressive selection of Shohei Ohtani cards and memorabilia, including a jersey worn on Jackie Robinson Day in 2023 with projections of fetching six-figure bids, and Ohtani’s monumental 200th career home run ball.

Adding to the allure are two pairs of game-worn shoes from basketball icon Michael Jordan, a cherished Roberto Clemente cap, a photo-matched jersey of rising star Ronald Acuna Jr., and a signed jersey from Tua Tagovailoa’s 2023 season. Notable jewelry pieces up for auction include a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP award, Olympic gold medals awarded to Jim Hines and Oleksandr Abramenko, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series ring, and a 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA championship ring.

Further attracting attention are Kobe Bryant’s game-worn and signed shoes, a prized 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP trophy, a game-used bat from baseball legend Ted Williams, a 2023 Bowman Chrome Draft Tom Brady Orange Refractor autograph, a 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card, a multi-signed baseball featuring early Hall of Fame inductees and Yankee legends, and an array of historical sports memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century.

With an extensive offering of over 400 lots, the Spring Premier auction kicks off on Wednesday and runs through Saturday, April 13, providing ample opportunities for collectors to secure their coveted pieces. The auction will be conducted online, offering accessibility and convenience to bidders worldwide at SCPAuctions.com.
