The IRS investigation reveals that he placed approximately 19,000 bets with a staggering net loss of around $40.7 million, notably excluding any Major League baseball games to keep the betting legally above board, so to speak. This addictive gamble-fueled descent did not just jeopardize his financial stability but also propelled him to misuse the trust Ohtani placed in him.
